KDA, Inc, headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, has been operating in the United States for more than 20 years. We produce world-leading Remote Weapon Systems (RWS) for the US Army, Marine Corps, and allies at our Johnstown, Pennsylvania factory. We have delivered more than 20,000 PROTECTOR RWS to 28 countries. The National Advanced Surface-to-Air System (NASAMS) is a highly mobile and tailorable capability that protects the airspace of 13 countries and Washington, DC. In 2027, we will do final assembly, test, and sustainment of the Naval Strike Missile and Joint Strike Missile systems at a new factory in southern Virginia.

KDA Inc is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Facilities Security Officer (FSO) to join a growing team at our new missile production facility in James City County, VA. The FSO will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of KDA Inc’s facilities, personnel, and sensitive information. The FSO will work closely with department heads and the security team to assess security risks, develop comprehensive security plans, and ensure compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP).

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of security, best practices, risk management, and emergency response procedures. In addition to possessing strong technical skills, the final candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, interacting with employees at all levels and collaborating with external agencies when necessary. The FSO will be an integral part of fostering a secure environment that allows KDA Inc to carry out its mission effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive security plans and procedures for KDA Inc’s facilities.
Manage and communicate insider threats and cyber security threats.
Ensure adherence to all relevant security regulations, including NISPOM (National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual), ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), and other applicable standards.
Manage the processing of Prime and Sub DD254s.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date security documentation, including security clearance records, incident reports, and audit logs.
Monitor and control access to the facility at all entry points to prevent unauthorized entry.
Process outgoing visit requests and validate incoming visit requests. Escort uncleared personnel or visitors.
Prepare and submit security reports to government agencies and company leadership as required.
Respond promptly to security incidents and emergencies, providing immediate assistance and support as needed.
Conduct thorough investigations of security breaches and incidents, documenting findings and recommending improvements.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to security.
Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services during security events or drills.
Coordinate with external stakeholders, such as government customers, oversight authorities (e.g., DCSA, IC SSOs and AOs), and accreditation inspections.
Provide security awareness training sessions for employees and staff to enhance overall security posture.
Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and contingency plans to address potential threats.
Be able to take on temporary duties as ISSM if necessary.
Ability to travel, domestic and international.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in facility management, engineering, business administration or relevant field.
NUMBER OF YEARS AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

At least 5 to 7 years of experience with security, best practices, risk management, and emergency response procedures.
Proven experience with SCIF management within the Defense & Space industry or related field.
Managed and implemented the NISP for a Class A facility in support of a range of programs.
Strong knowledge of security protocols, risk assessment, and threat management.
Ability to respond calmly and effectively to emergencies and high-pressure situations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals and teams.
Familiarity with surveillance systems, access control systems, and security technology.
Valid security certification or licensure as required by law or industry standards.
Active security clearance or the ability to obtain it.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
MINIMUM LEARNING TIME FOR THIS POSITION PROVIDED EMPLOYEE HAS NECESSARY EXPERIENCE:

6 months.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Typical office setting.
Occasionally work over 40 hours per week.
Exposure to chemicals.
Exposure to toxic fumes occasionally.
Work with machinery with moving parts .
Composite toe and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) footwear (when entering the production area).
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Smocks (When entering the production area).
Regular travel.
OTHER POSITION CONSIDERATIONS:

Follow established confidentiality policy, safety standards, or applicable regulations.
Knowledge of customer service best practices. Organizational skills.
Some international and domestic travel required (10 – 20%).
Valid driver’s license and passport required.
